EU countries have until 2017 plans for mobile internet via 700MHz band
The European Commission wants the 700MHz band by summer of 2020 in all Member States has been allocated to mobile Internet as a basis for 5g networks. European countries have until 2017 to publish their plans for this.
The idea is to put in large parts of the spectrum between 694MHz and 790MHz for mobile Internet, with particular improved indoor coverage. By June 30 2020, this frequency band should be assigned in all Member States for this purpose. Germany and France have already given permission. Denmark, Finland, the United Kingdom and Sweden are working on plans and the Netherlands have agreed to auction the frequency band. 30 June should all countries have prepared a plan for the release of the band.
The frequencies in the sub-700MHz band from 470 to 694MHz remain for digital TV and wireless microphones.
