EU Privacy Authorities want WhatsApp stop sharing data with Facebook

European privacy authorities have urged WhatsApp to stop sharing data with Facebook yet. The watchdogs are concerned about this share, as specified in the privacy of WhatsApp.

whatsapp privacy screenshot The Article 29 Working Party, in which the privacy authorities of the Member States are united, have expressed their concerns in a letter to WhatsApp. In it, they ask the chat service to hand over all relevant information about the data sharing as soon as possible and to temporarily stop sharing user information “until it is ensured that adequate legal protection is respected.”

The concerns of the working group, which includes the Dutch Authority for Personal Data is a part, have emerged since a recent change to the privacy terms of WhatsApp. This change indicates that WhatsApp phone users can provide to Facebook that can show people with a Facebook account as the person targeted ads and can make friend suggestions.

Users must specifically agree deal with the sharing of account information during installation and then another month to undo this. WhatsApp explains to Reuters the authorities to sit down on the subject. The amendment of the conditions was in August announced .

At the same time, the Article 29 Working Party asked to Yahoo with the letter to WhatsApp to provide information about the massive hack involving data from more than five hundred million users were captured. Also wants the agency information on scanning e-mails by the company on behalf of US intelligence.
