European Commission approves acquisition of KPN subsidiary Base by Telenet

The Belgian cable provider Telenet has received approval from the European Commission to acquire KPN subsidiary Base. Because Base include prepared to sell its stake in Mobile Vikings is the Commission to Medialaan that there is plenty of competition.

Telenet According to the Belgian newspaper De Morgen pays Liberty Global subsidiary Telenet 1.325 billion for the carrier base. With the acquisition, Telenet offers its own mobile network. Prior to the acquisition the company made as a virtual operator using the Mobistar network. That company is now working with a name change to Orange, similar to the parent company.

According Base Telenet and change there for the few customers. They can continue to use their products and services. The acquisition Telenet get to three million customers Base. In Belgium other mobile networks owned by Proximus and Mobistar. Telenet CEO John Porter described the deal: “The family was too big to even rent a house, so we bought a house.”
