F-Secure announces router with subscription security home network
F-Secure announced at the Slush conference in Helsinki on the security product Sense. This includes a subscription service including application and network router that keeps an eye on traffic and identifies threats on the basis of data on the servers of F-Secure.
The product includes, in the words of F-Secure, smart hardware and an app. F-Secure does not give detailed information about the operation of the product. The documentation shows that it is primarily a router that provides a secure wireless network. It is intended that all of the devices in a home is connected to the router. These monitors network traffic from the devices using self-learning software and definitions of threats that are present on a server F-Secure.
In addition, devices such as mobile phones are protected in transit through an app. This allows also the devices which are present at home to be held in the holes. The app displays a notification when a threat to the home network is established.
Sense how network traffic is not disclosed. The router is equipped with a dual-core processor with a clock speed of 1GHz and 512MB RAM. He also has three Ethernet ports and support for dual-band Wi-Fi ac.
Sense is in Europe for the first five thousand buyers through pre-order available for 99 euros, including an annual subscription. The subscription price is normally eight euros per month.
