Facebook allows pages to earn money from their stolen videos

Facebook today provided new features to content managers within the rights manager, allowing them to automate procedures, enabling them to prevent the spread of hacked content more quickly and counteracting what content creators were supposed to take manual actions each time a video was matched. Was considered difficult in case of piracy from multiple sources.

The platform launched the rights director a year ago to help rights holders manage and protect video content on a large scale, as video piracy is rampant on the social media platform, so videos are shared and ad revenue is obtained without proper attribution For the primary video owner.

The platform has now provided four automatic options for content creators:

Block the possibility of uploading any matching content.
Claim a share of ad revenue from pirated videos.
Monitor video metrics, allowing owners to see video performance and take different actions later.
Manual review that allows owners to handle videos on a case-by-case basis as previously available.
These changes are a step in the right direction, and the second option may be particularly interesting. Although Facebook has not explained how to determine the share of ad revenue received by the original content owner, it remains a useful tool for original content creators to take advantage of pirated videos.

Content owners can set specific terms for matching videos to match automated actions. For example, you can choose to block a pirated video only if it’s published by a page that is trying to earn money from advertising and allowing ordinary people to share it.

Another option allows you to specify the amount of video you want to copy to match, since people may not be able to use video snippets, but they are not fully allowed to use the video. Other criteria include viewers’ location, type of content, Common or private participation.
