Facebook adds a Transportation component to its Messenger client. Allows users to call directly from the app runs in transport. The first partner with which Facebook works with is Uber.

Transportation is part of Messenger and can go directly from conversations used to be. Users can click an address in a conversation and in the menu that appears on “request a ride ‘clicks. Alternatively, they can click on the auto-emoji.

It seems intended that in the future, users can select multiple transport, but as yet there is only Uber integration. Of that service, people who have applied for a ride even status updates about the time it will take for their transportation there.

Facebook test the functionality with a limited group of users in the US, but says that other countries will follow soon.
