Facebook Messenger on Android adds support for SMS messages

Network announced the Facebook social today added a new feature is support for SMS to the application of IM conversations and instant calls on the Android system.

The new feature allows users to receive and read and respond to the approved talks to SMS messages within an application Messenger for mobile phones on the Android system, provided Messenger choose to be the default SMS application on the device.

Once you activate the new feature will turn the talks contained within Facebook Messenger to blue, while short messages appear purple.

The company aims to facilitate the possibility of communication between the user and the various contacts he has through the use of a single application to more than one service together, so that the user will not need to use a custom application for SMS when you activate the feature and the use of IM for this purpose.

And it supports SMS feature within Messenger written and video content and audio texts, images, emoji, stickers, and location sharing.

The company said that despite the advantage of providing a system Android only, however, the receiver is able to receive messages sent through the application of Facebook Messenger, regardless of the platform used.

According to Facebook, it will not load or store the user’s own short messages within the company’s servers, but not all send and receive short messages and multimedia messages through traditional methods of corporate communications.

Access may take this feature for all Facebook Messenger users on the Android some time, the company did not clarify whether they should use a specific version of the application number or that the service is up to everyone across the company’s servers.

It should be noted that the company a few years ago by adding such a feature, allowing users to set the IM application as the default SMS app, to play in November 2013 to remove the feature.
