Facebook said to show ads to people who visit the social network through the desktop and thereby benefit from AdBlocker. It is not yet clear in which way the adblockers wants to work against the social network.

According to New York Times, that the head of the advertising department of Facebook said , the social network ads will show in a way that they are indistinguishable from other content. This should make it impossible for adblockers to block the ads. That would be only too analyze all content completely.

The reason for showing ads to people who use adblockers is according to Facebook’s introduction of a new tool, which allows users greater control over the content of the ads they see.

Facebook said to have studied why people use adblockers and suggests that this is often because users find ads annoying, or not fit their preferences. Also, people would want to have control over the ads they see and where the company wants to capitalize on the new setup options.

Logged users who click on the ad preferences page, see that on the basis of what information they are presented with ads. The preferences are based on information from the profile of the user and “actions you take inside and outside of Facebook,” the page. Users can add according to Facebook preferences or remove this in order to influence the ads they see.
