Far Cry New Dawn is post-apocalyptic sequel and ends on February 15th

Ubisoft Montreal announced a new title in the Far Cry series at The Game Awards in Los Angeles. Far Cry New Dawn is a standalone sequel to Far Cry 5, has a post-apocalyptic setting and will be released on February 15 next year.

Ubisoft has presented Far Cry New Dawn by means of a trailer. Far Cry New Dawn is a sequel to the Far Cry 5 story, in which the villain, cult leader Joseph Seed, had a rather devastating plan. New Dawn builds on this largely; Hope County and the entire world are hit by nuclear bombs. The new story takes place ten years after the nuclear winter, when the landscape and nature seem to recover again.

Joseph Seed probably no longer plays a significant role, since it appears that he is tied to a car by two people, whether or not to be executed. These two persons are known as The Twins, named Mickey and Lou. They are the antagonists in the game and the leaders of a group of collectors, the Highwaymen. As a player and survivor you have to take on this group and set up the resistance. This is done from a base camp called Prosperity, where players can make weapons and vehicles and hire mercenaries.

As far as innovations in the gameplay are concerned, there is an Expeditions mode. Players can then fly to other places in the US with a helicopter, for example to carry out missions in the Grand Canyon. The core of the gameplay seems to correspond largely to Far Cry 5, although New Dawn is more about the manufacture of weapons and there are, for example, new animals that can be used, such as a wild boar. Some characters return, like the daughter of Nick Rye.

Far Cry New Dawn is a standalone game and it is therefore not necessary to have Far Cry 5 in possession. The new game in the series will end on February 15 for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. The game will cost $ 40.
