FBI cracks iPhone San Bernardino-shooter and let fall case against Apple

The FBI has access out to the iPhone 5c of the San Bernardino-shooter and therefore cease its lawsuit against Apple. It is not clear how the US service has been able to access the data on the smartphone.

The news comes out through documents filed Monday with the court. The US Department of Justice would have asked the US court to drop the charges against Apple because it’s “the assistance of the company no longer needs”. The American authorities nor Apple have delivered at the time of writing commentary.

Last week, a hearing has already been postponed to give the FBI time to test a new method of unlocking. Then said the American OM “a third party that the FBI has demonstrated a possible method to unlock iPhone Farooks”. Probably this is the result of those tests. Who is the third party is not known, but it is possible for the Israeli Cellebrite. Possibly the method used is not disclosed.

The conflict between Apple and the FBI began mid-February. The FBI claimed Apple’s help in decrypting the iPhone 5c of one of the perpetrators. On the smartphone would be preserved as possible evidence. Apple was asked to write special firmware for the phone to help in circumventing its security. Apple was resolutely against it because it would take in the company a ‘master key’ which allows authorities could also apply in other cases.
