In the run-up to the World Cup 2018, which takes place in June, Electronic Arts adds a special World Cup mode to FIFA 18. With this free dlc, which is released on May 29, players can in fact imitate the upcoming football tournament.

The World Cup update is a tournament mode in which all 32 national teams participating in the 2018 World Cup are in the game. However, players can also organize their own world championship with non-participating countries such as the Netherlands, Italy, the United States and Chile. In the update are also all 12 Russian stadiums where the World Cup matches are played.

In addition, the update adds a special World Cup variant of the existing micro-transaction FIFA ultimate team mode, allowing gamers to create their own favorite team. Players can choose from the football players of the 32 participating countries and a number of legendary players are also available. This mode is not so much about club chemistry as improving a team, but more about shared nationality.

The free update will be available for all FIFA 18 players on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and the PC on May 29th. Mobile versions of the FIFA games will receive the new content on June 6th.
