Film director Friday the 13th official game supports development




Developer Gun Media is working on an official game of horror classic Friday the 13th. It is an asymmetrical multiplayer game, where one player like Jason targeting has seven other gamers, who have to escape the bloodthirsty murderer.

Gun Media collects on Kickstarter money for the development of Friday the 13th: The Game. Sean Cunningham, the director of the original film from 1980 and licensee has given his blessing to the development. Harry Manfredini, who was responsible for the soundtrack, will provide the music for the game. Actor Kane Hodder, who took on the role of killer Jason Voorhees in Jason X 2001 film, will take all the animations via motion capturing.

According to Cunningham’s twenty year saw the arrival of a Friday the 13th game, but it was there all the while never a really good idea. That changed when he collided with Gun Media, who worked on horror game Slasher Vol.1: Summer Camp. Cunningham decided the developers to give the license for an official game.

The game will take place in a semi-open world around Camp Crystal Lake. It is a 1-vs-7-multiplayer game, the player assumes the role of Jason in itself butchering his victims in gruesome and inventive ways, the developers promise.

The makers have until the end of November time to bring home the necessary $ 700,000 on the crowdfunding site. At time of writing, just after the launch of the campaign, the counter stands at over $ 245,000. In the event that there is more money pledged, the developer has a long list of stretch goals are there. What exactly will add it is not yet known, currently the list are not readable.

Who does a pledge of at least $ 30 will receive a digital download of the game. The game is made in the Unreal Engine 4 and will be available for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. If everything goes as planned, the game will appear in October 2016.
