These devices were originally shipped with Android 7.0 Nougat and mainly received security updates. New in Android Oreo

Android Oreo introduces, among other things, a picture-in-picture mode. This allows you to open YouTube and Google Maps in a small window that floats over other apps. For example, your navigation stays in view while you send a WhatsApp message. Oreo also reduces the battery consumption of apps on standby and you better filter your incoming messages with notification channels.

In addition, the update brings the smarter selection, copying and searching and automatic supplementing of texts. You can also filter notifications with the so-called notification channels. Finally, Motorola makes some adjustments to the Moto app, so you can use useful gestures, for example, to perform certain actions.
