First details of LG Nuclun 2-soc appear online




The first details have emerged of LG’s upcoming LG soc Nuclun 2. Lets make the processor on a 16nm FinFET-process and has built eight cores, four of the Cortex-A72 ARM microarchitecture.

The four Cortex A72 cores have a maximum clock rate of 2,1GHz, according to information that an insider in the Chinese social network Weibo put . Cortex A72 should apply as successor to Cortex A57, the microarchitecture used include Samsung and Qualcomm in their most recent socs.

LG wants to combine his soc with an Intel modem to connect to 2G, 3G and 4G networks, while nothing is known about the GPU which it will sit. The Nuclun 2 should go into mass production for about a year and a half, so the manufacturer can use it in devices from autumn 2016. TSMC should produce the socs at 16nm FinFET-process.

Though soc if he would sit in his current phones for high-end phones is that at the time he supposedly comes not so. LG took his first soc, Nuclun, only in the G3 Screen , a midrange device last year. Except for the first Nuclun-soc LG has not yet designed socs, although the licensing technology from ARM years ago betrayed that LG it was busy.
