First smartphone with Android Go appears in the Netherlands




The first smartphone with Android Oreo Go Edition has appeared in the Netherlands. The Nokia 1 was available late last week. Manufacturers presented Android Go devices for the first time at the end of last month.

Various online stores have the Nokia 1 in stock, Android Planet remarked . The first user review of the device has also been published in the Pricewatch. The user received the device on Monday. The recommended retail price of the device is € 89 in the Netherlands.

HMD Global, the Finnish company that makes Nokia phones, presented the Nokia 1 at the end of February, along with the Nokia 6 2018, Nokia 7 Plus and Nokia 8 Sirocco. Apart from HMD several other manufacturers announced devices with Android Go.

Android Go is a variant of Google’s mobile operating system with lighter versions of apps. As a result, it requires less space on the tight storage of these devices and users spend less data on updates.

For example, Maps is a web viewer. Android Go is compatible with regular Android apps. In addition, there are functions to monitor the use of data, a service to compress web pages via the browser and ways to share files without an internet connection. Tweakers recently published a preview of Android Go and of the Nokia 1 .
