FLIR launches entry-level thermal camera for outdoor activities

FLIR has announced at CES two new thermal cameras: a basic model for business or home use and a compact consumer camera for outdoor applications. The rugged FLIR Scout TK example wildlife viewing in the dark.

The FLIR Scout TK is made to hold securely and easily and to operate with one hand. The thermal camera weighs 170 grams and is equipped with a rubber coating for better grip. The user looks through it like a telescope and may in the dark tones of the thermal animals and people who are at maximum 91 meters away.

With a single press of the button makes the Scout TK pictures, long press switches the video recording possibility. Images can be extracted from the camera via USB and the lithium-ion battery guarantees operation for five hours. The Scout TK comes in the first quarter of 2016 for $ 600.

A cheaper option of $ 249 is the TG130. This spot thermal camera is like the Scout TK using FLIR’s Lepton micro camera. The TG130 may according to the manufacturer, for example, be used to detect leaks and drafts where energy losses occur in homes.
