Foldable smartphone FlexPai is currently not working on mobile networks in the EU

Screen supplier Royole will deliver his foldable smartphone in Europe, but for now he only works with Chinese providers. As a result, the telephone can not be used on European mobile networks.

The FlexPai will be available to Chinese consumers at the end of December, but Royole will also be supplying its device in Europe at the same time, says a spokesperson for a PR agency against Tweakers, which Royole has called. Moreover, he will actually function as a tablet and not as a smartphone in Europe for the time being, because he only supports Chinese providers. The specs state that he supports some of the frequently used frequency bands for 4g in the Benelux.

Royole presented the FlexPai Wednesday and has now put detailed specs online. The 7.8 “-oled screen has a resolution of 1920×1440 pixels, with which the pixel density is 308ppi. Royole produces the screen itself and it is unknown whether it is rgb pixels or Royole like Samsung and LG choose a subpixel structure with two subpixels per pixel.

The screen is of your own making. Royole has set up a factory in China to produce its thin, foldable OLED screens. These are not only for smartphones, but also for speakers and T-shirts, for example. The Shenzen plant can produce up to 50 million OLED screens per year.

Two nanosims can be used in the device. The housing is 190x134x176mm and weighs 320 grams. The battery has a capacity of 3800mAh, while users can charge with 25W. The FlexPai costs in China from 8,999 yuan for the version with 6GB memory and 128GB storage. That is currently about 1135 euros converted. There is also a slightly more expensive version with 8GB of memory and 256GB of storage. It costs around 1265 euros.
