Former Remedy director starts his own studio that makes free-to-play games

Matias Myllyrinne, the former director of Remedy Entertainment and the former developer of Wargaming, together with a number of other veterans from the industry founded the studui Redhill Games. The studio makes free-to-play games for the PC.

Redhill Games is based in Helsinki and it is intended that the new development team develops quality games for markets in the game industry that have received little attention so far. According to a VentureBeat editor , who spoke with Myllyrinne, the studio is already working on a new tactical shooter for the PC.

At Redhill there are also a number of veterans from companies like Guerilla Games, Starbreeze, Next Games and Wargaming. The new company focuses on tactical shooters that can be played for free and on titles that can be considered as games-as-a-service. Principles such as playing together and an honest earnings model would be paramount in the games that Redhill makes. According to Myllyrinne, a game that is free to play can also be done well.

Myllyrinne led teams of developers responsible for games such as Quantum Break, ALan Wake and Max Payne. At the Belarusian publisher and developer Wargaming, he was in charge of the development of World of Tanks and World of Warships.
