Epic Games, publisher and developer of the popular battle royale-game Fortnite, will make a hundred million dollars available as prize money for all e-sports tournaments in the upcoming first year of the competition.

In the short blog post , Epic Games reports little details; the company says it will publish more information in the coming weeks about the structure of the e-sports tournaments and platforms on which the competitive matches will be played. The prize money of nearly 85 million euros is used in the coming season, which covers part of 2018 and part of 2019. In February Fortnite generated another turnover of an estimated 126 million dollars , converted 107 million euros.

With a total prize pool of 100 million for a season, Epic Games would leave other game companies far behind. According to the Esportsearnings website, between 2011 and 2018 Valve has made a total of $ 141 million in prize money for a total of 918 Dota 2 tournaments. The total amount of prize money that has been used in the Counter-Strike e-sports competitions and tournaments: Global Offensive and League of Legends has been around $ 50 million for both games so far.
