Ideal bridge – is the one that allows cars to travel at low altitude over the water, and the ships to sail freely underneath. Construction of high bridges are expensive, and mobile facilities – inconvenient to use. One Dutch engineering firm has proposed a floating structure, which does not use the bridge itself. Instead, it lowers the water level of 8 meters, clearing the way sea-going vessels.

Inclined gateway developed Dutch engineers Royal Haskoning DHV, one of the world’s largest engineering companies. Leaning gateway temporarily reduces the water level in one of its channels, allowing the yacht with high mast to pass under a low bridge. The design is energized built solar panels.

The best way to understand the principle of the inclined gateway – see the video below.

According to the publication of Civil Engineering Manager infrastructure projects Royal Haskoning DHV Carl Poldervart, the idea to build something like this came after observing cars and boats, awaiting their turn to pass through the drawbridge. Inclined gateway will be installed under the existing bridge Haringvliet Bridge in the Netherlands, which will provide its 8-meter clearance for the passage of vessels.
