Four former Telltale leaders set up new game studios

Four leaders of the now bankrupt Telltale Games have set up a new game studio. AdHoc studio is going to make games like Telltale Games that can be described as an interactive story, but more experimentally than the former Telltale did.

The four leaders left for about two years before Telltale went bankrupt, says Variety in an interview . They are Michael Choung CEO, Nick Herman, CEO Dennis Lenart and CEO Pierre Shorette. They wanted to take more risks with games than usual at Telltale. Before that three of the four turned to Ubisoft, where they hoped to set up a daughter’s studio. After that did not go through, the three together with the fourth, Choung, formed the new company AdHoc Studio.

AdHoc Studio wants to make games that are similar to Bandersnatch , the interactive Black Mirror movie released on Netflix in December. “With streaming platforms in every home and smartphones in every pocket, it is possible for everyone to take part in an interactive film or series, and we feel that now is the perfect time to set up a studio that focuses on that.”

The team has nothing concrete to reveal at the moment, but the interview does state that it always likes to work with real actors, so perhaps the first game of AdHoc Studio in that respect is the same as Bandersnatch. Also a release date for the first project of the team is not yet available.
