Fox-IT: gang cybercriminals stole $ 100 million




A gang of cyber criminals has plundered using its own version of the Zeus malware hundred million dollars from bank accounts. According to research by the Dutch security company Fox-IT and collaboration with Crowd Strike and the FBI.

The botnet gang was removed last year from the air, but the extent of the harm they caused the cybercriminals had not yet known. The attackers used its own variation on the well-known Zeus malware, which they have dubbed Zeus Game Over.

In addition to the hundred million dollars – around 92 million – which made the attackers loot from bank accounts around the world, they have also captured some 20 to 30 gigabytes of data.
