The first match is on March 29 show . Then find a place where competition selected six teams to compete for participation in the International eSports Federation World Championship. The Dutch College League is currently busy with another league that a place can be earned, said a spokesman for that competition. The matches will be played at Vue cinema in Hilversum and will be broadcast live on YouTube Twitch and also on TV channel Fox Sports since late March.
According to Joost Roset, co-producer of the program, there talked with Fox since October 2015. He believes it is an original concept developed independently. Sport Channel ESPN started already previously with the transmission of, inter alia, Heroes of the Storm-competitions in the United States. Esports have become increasingly popular in the last few years. So Leage of Legends World Cup did in 2015 to attract more than 36 million viewers.
The choice of League of Legends has been made because it is simply the most popular game in esports. Was chosen for a student competition, because this is the largest group of active players. If the Dutch College League is successful, then there is a chance that there are more games and groups are added. Roset is talking about include World of Warcraft, Hearthstone and Counter Strike: Global Offensive.
To accomplish this the program must be successful. According Roset is there to talk about success as the Dutch College League “manages to achieve something substantial.” By this he refers to drawing viewers’ attention, but also from other esport competitions and game developers. He hopes that the program manages to be the most watched sports program in the Netherlands. Fox himself admits that it will be getting used to viewers. Maarten van Rooijen, communications director of Fox, has had to NIS know that it is still not about the ratings.
