Fraudsters create site after Dixons and put thousands of ads on Marketplace




One or more fraudsters have the site of the electronics chain Dixons completely copied and placed in a short time tens of thousands of ads on Marketplace. Marketplace has now blocked the seller, but the site is still online.

The site with the url aims that people notice the lower prices for phones and so proceed to an order. Then, the only method turns out to be a wire transfer, in which the fraudsters use of a Dutch ING account. Further ordering process and appearance differs from that of Dixons, but it is also a credible ordering process, with proper Dutch texts. The order does not happen via a secure SSL connection.

The scammer or scammers praised the site to tens of thousands of ads that were placed in a short time. The vendor managed to post hundreds of ads per minute with remarkably low prices for electronics. If not cost an iPhone 6 on the site between 600 and 700 euros, but 400 euros.

Various tweakers noticed the site and associated ads on Marketplace on. The site is still online. It is unknown how many people have fallen for it. Whois of the site leads to a Hispanic name and an address in Miami. Who runs them, is unknown. It is not the only counterfeit shop. According to the police happens several times a month.
