South Korea ‘s latest Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus are doing well, with more than 550,000 orders in just two days, the company’s highest figure in its home country, according to a South Korean news report.

By comparison, the Korean newspaper Hankyung said that the number of pre-orders on the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8 Plus exceeded the number of applications on the Galaxy Note 7 by 2.75 times, and the number of applications on the Galaxy S7 by 5.5 times.

The 128-gigabyte version of the Galaxy S8 Plus was the most sought after, the first version in South Korea that comes with a RAM of 6 gigabytes.

The long absence of a leading smart phone after the Galaxy 7 crisis, coupled with a major marketing campaign led by the South Korean electronics giant, contributed to the high demand for the Galaxy S8 and its older brother.

Samsung opened the pre-order door on the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8 Plus on Friday in South Korea, Canada and the United States. Consumers who dialed the phone earlier on April 17 will receive the pre-date market availability on April 21.

Analysts expect South Korea to help the new phone Samsung to record records in the financial results for the second quarter of this year, and expects high profits in the first quarter of 2017 thanks to strong demand for chips.
