Gartner reveal its outlook for the IT sector in the Middle East

The forecast issued by the institution, “Gartner” Research that the volume of spending on information technology in the Middle East in the year 2013 will see an increase of 5.5% from last year.

The study showed that the volume of expenditure on the category of devices in the Middle East will reach $ 29.6 billion this year, marking a rise of 7.7% for the year 2012.

Believes “Gartner” that mobile phones in the category of devices that include mobile phones and tablet devices and laptops and printers, will grow in the rate of spending more than 14% in 2013, while the increase handset sales between 2013 and 2016 average of 64% to reach $ 32.7 billion .

The study predicted that more sectors, which will support the increased demand for information technology in the current year are the sectors of banking, government agencies, especially the Gulf, which seeks to develop its gross domestic product is oil.

The study added that of the categories that will see demand in the Gulf region also is a class communication techniques, due to the growing population of the youth in the region, as for telecommunication services market in the Middle East, it will continue issued to the largest markets spending represented 77% of total spending on information technology in the region during 2013.

Analysts believe “Gartner” to exceed the growth of spending on telecommunications services 5% during the year with the arrival of spending on voice services via mobile phone to U.S. $ 88.5 billion, and data services via mobile phone to 23.2 billion dollars.

On the share of spending on software, which is a basic categories in the information technology sector, study Ftergeh that grows spending on software in the Middle East during the 2013 rate of 7.1%.

The study shows that the more the demand for software sectors in the region are security, storage management, and customer relationship management.

At the end of the study indicated “Gartner” to most forecasts for next year, 2014, where explained that the markets are moving to large data and other information management initiatives, such as content management companies, and tools integrate data, tools and data quality, will start in the recovery especially with regard to levels investment.
