article_chffr George Hotz (Geohot) wanted his project Chffr poach autonomous driving in the area. In this case he wanted to develop a retrofit kit for regular cars. Also an artificial intelligence, the KI Comma One, should play an enormous role. Hotz yesteryear was known about its exploits and jailbreak the Apple iPhone and Sony PlayStation . 3 Meanwhile, Hotz announced via the Twitter account of Comma.ai that the development of the Comma One was discontinued. The reason for this is a skeptical letter from the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

According to Hotz, the institution immediately threatened him, instead of entering into a dialogue. However, he himself wanted to spend his time developing new technology rather than dealing with authorities and lawyers. So he set Comma One. However, Comma.ai will continue to deal with other markets and products. Even though Hotz is a staged heroic hero who wanted to develop something great, the question of whether Comma One had serious potential in view of the rapid capitulation is the question. Without deeper insights it is difficult to make a judgment.

Hotz had created Comma.ai at the end of 2015, after he had an Acura ILX with its own hardware and software converted to a self-propelled car. Tesla offered him a job at the time, which he, however, rejected because of Tesla’s collaboration with Mobileye. He accused the latter of not being interested in innovations. Whether he himself will make it better, of course, is on a different hand. The fact that an institution like the NHTSA has inquired about the state of things at Comma One, is not a big turn. Spokesman for the Authority said: “We were concerned about the security of Comma.ai products. That is why we have asked the company for more information on how it works. It was then the decision of Mr. Hotz to discontinue the product. “That Hotz abandoned so quickly does not necessarily for the project.
