German administrator illegal streaming service Kinox.to gets more than three years in prison

The German ex-manager of the streaming service Kinox.to has been given a sentence of three years and four months. The court of Leipzig found evidence that the man had fallen in 2889 due to the illegal exploitation of copyrighted works.

The charges against the 29-year-old German involved 767 000 cases of copyright infringement, but in the end the court of Leipzig deemed “illegal commercial exploitation of copyrighted works” proven cases in 2889. The man was then three years and four months imprisonment imposed, but part is conditional and since the German was already fourteen months in detention, he was able to leave the court.

The ex-manager would have been involved, according to the German Piracy watchdog GVU at Kino.to, the predecessor of Kinox.to. In both cases the sites that offer links to movie streams and convert millions of euros annually according to the collecting society.

Kinox.to is still online. The site was currently being run by two brothers, writes the Augsburger-Allgemeine, which in a while wanted to be but have still not been arrested.
