German police are doing searches for illegal e-books

The German police has about fifty houses searched in a case against a shop where illegal e-books were sold. The website has now been taken off the air, as well as a related blog. There is no one arrested yet.

Copyright In total there are 45 to 50 house searches, reports Der Spiegel. Both sites, Ebookspender.me and the related blog Spiegelbest.me are since Wednesday offline. Ebook on Spender was given for five euros per month access to more than fifty thousand German illegal e-books; on the related blog site was touted.

During the raids include computers, phones, tablets, e-readers and hard drives seized. One person was considered a suspect, but police have not been able to arrest him. According to a lawyer of one of the people with whom a search was performed his client was just a “customer” of the platform and he himself nothing uploaded.
