Find a Question:
“Germany investigates involvement NSA and GCHQ in infected laptop government ‘
The German government is examining according to Der Spiegel, the involvement of the US and British intelligence in the contamination of a laptop from a member of Chancellor Angela Merkel. The laptop would include advanced malware Regin.
The Regin malware allegedly found last year at the privélaptop of the head of the department of the Federal Chancellery, writes Der Spiegel. The Public Prosecutor would have launched an investigation, according to sources from the magazine into the involvement of the US NSA and the British GCHQ with the infection.
In 2014 Regin malware has also been found on a USB stick from an employee of Merkel. Officially it is not known who has developed the advanced modular toolkit, but professionals of the Dutch security company Fox-IT assume that the NSA and GCHQ are behind the malware.
Regin would also be used in the attack on Belgacom, a Belgian professor of data security in 2013, noted Symantec earlier. The malware is using an unusual cryptographic algorithm and a proprietary encrypted file system.Viewing:-124
