Meanwhile, in the period that services for streaming music have become more popular, the number of people illegally downloading music decreased. Where in September 2014, 32 percent of respondents downloaded music illegally, was dropped last month to a quarter. This means that more than one in five illegal downloaders within months stopped downloading music from illegal sources.
The number of users of video-on-demand services is about as large as the number of users of music streaming services. According to GfK, about 4.7 million people use a video-on-demand service. Also, it applies that the legal offer goes hand in hand with the trend that fewer people download illegally, says GfK.
