GfK: 1.5 million Dutch pay for services such as Spotify and Deezer

Where in September 2014, 32 percent of respondents downloaded music illegally, was dropped last month to a quarter. This means that more than one in five illegal downloaders within months stopped downloading music from illegal sources.

The number of users of video-on-demand services is about as large as the number of users of music streaming services. According to GfK, about 4.7 million people use a video-on-demand service. Also, it applies that the legal offer goes hand in hand with the trend that fewer people download illegally, says GfK.

The research firm surveyed more than a thousand Dutch on the use of services for streaming music or video on demand.
