Find a Question:
Going on a trip back in time, do not forget your wormhole
The concept of a time machine conjures up images of improbable device, which is too often used in science fiction stories. However, according to the general theory of relativity, Albert Einstein, which explains the operation of gravity in the universe, time travel – it is not only the fruit of the imagination. And if the movie time travel – this plot twist, what about the reality?
Travel forward in time, according to Einstein’s theory, it is absolutely possible . In fact, the physicists were able to send tiny particles called muons, very similar to electrons, forward in time by manipulating gravity around them. This does not mean that the technology to send people forward in the future it will be possible in the next 100 years, but still.
With regard to travel into the past, with them still confusing. However, astrophysicist Eric Davis of the International Institute for Advanced Studies at Austin EarthTech believes that it is possible. All you need – is wormhole or a wormhole, a theoretical pass through the fabric of space-time predicted by the theory of relativity.
“You can move into the future or the past through the wormhole,” – said Davis.
Wormhole has not yet been proven, and if they ever find, and they will be so small that they do not even fit the person, not to mention a spaceship. With all of this Davis believes that it is possible to use a wormhole to travel back to the past.
As a general theory of relativity and quantum theory offers several opportunities to travel – for example, “closed timelike curve” or the way that reduces the space-time, ie the time machine.
Davis argues that the modern scientific understanding of the laws of physics “is teeming with time machines, that is, the numerous decisions geometry of space-time, which can travel in time or possess the properties of a time machine.”
As you know, the wormhole would allow a ship, for example, to go from one point to another faster than the speed of light – almost like a warp bubble . That’s because the ship arrives at its destination earlier than a beam of light passing by a short path through space-time. Transport, so will not violate a rule of universal speed limit, which imposes light as the ship itself does not travel as fast.
Such a wormhole could theoretically lead not through space, but through time.
“Time Machine is inevitable in our physical space-time,” – writes Davis in the work. – “Feed-through wormhole time machine include.”
However, adds Davis, a wormhole to turn into a time machine will not be easy. Herculean efforts will be needed. That’s because as soon as the wormhole is created, one or both of its ends will need to speed up the time to the destination, which follows from the general theory of relativity.
