Google: 97 percent of YouTube traffic over https

YouTube said in a blog post that 97 percent of its traffic runs over encrypted connections. That Google’s business does not reach 100 percent, according to the company is that some devices do not support modern forms of https.

tweakers HTTPS The hope in the not too distant future unencrypted connections completely phase out, but how long that will last is unknown. The largest part of the unscrambled data goes to mobile devices, namely 96.2 percent. Presumably refers to devices that never get an upgrade to a version in which modern https or http / 2 supported, writes Google in a report on the transition to https.

Other reasons that https is not supported because some countries and organizations https traffic blocking or worse by giving in other ways. Also managing certificates through various domains for sites hosted on Blogger, sometimes cause problems because non-Google properties can be used.

Implementation of https YouTube started in 2014. In March 2014, Google announced that Gmail is only accessible via https. Other services soon followed, but none of them completely. Also and YouTube switched to HSTS which navigate accidentally http urls, is avoided. Tweakers recently stepped completely over https which also did not take any chances.
