Google allows developers to integrate Compose Actions into Gmail add-ons. This allows them to add add-ons functions to windows for composing e-mail messages.

The addition allows Gmail users to add attachments while they are writing an e-mail, access information and use third-party formatting functions.

Google gives as an example the Compose Actions of the Box add-on, which allows users to directly attach files stored with the service to messages and store received attachments to the service. With the Dropbox add-on a logo appears in the window for sharing files and folders via e-mail and with the Atlassian Cloud add-on contextual information from Jira and Bitbucket appears. According to Google, there are more Compose Actions from other add-on providers.

As soon as users activate Actions for add-ons, they will appear to be permitted at both mobile and web versions of Gmail and G Suite administrators. Last summer there were privacy concerns about add-ons in Gmail, because some would allow developers to read the content of messages.
