Google invests $ 550 million in JD.com, a Chinese web store. In return, JD.com will offer part of its range in other countries and both companies will jointly develop ‘frictionless shopping’ for use in the US, Southeast Asia and Europe.

Google speaks in the announcement about a ‘strategic partnership’ with JD.com. Google gets shares of JD.com through the investment. The intention is that Google and JD.com will exchange their knowledge and experience about online shopping in order to ensure that customers can shop anywhere online at any time. This involves customers in Southeast Asia, the United States and Europe, says JD.com .

It is still unknown what the exact consequences will be of the cooperation between the two companies. In any case, JD.com will appear as a result in Google Shopping, where the Chinese web store will offer part of its range on more continents, where exactly that will happen is unknown.

JD.com is one of the larger Chinese web stores. JD.com is a competitor of Alibaba and is known from Joybuy.com. The company says it serves a total of 236 million customers and has a total of 65,000 employees.
