Google and Mattel bring a new version of the View-Master from: the toy eyeglasses where circular discs with slides had to be plugged in for stereoscopic image. The new version works like a VR glasses with a smartphone based on Google’s open Cardboard platform.

Google and Mattel focus with the new View-Master on children, both companies announced . “Because of the circular disk of the View-Master with an app and combine an Android phone, get children into an imaginative and interactive learning environment,” said Mattel.

Since Mattel has only non-working prototypes operation is not yet fully understood, but it seems the intention that both a smartphone as the disks in the View-Master can be inserted. The discs give the user the ability to select certain 360 degrees images and interactive animations and view them then. Initially These include a panoramic view of the Space Shuttle.

The new View-Master comes in the fall of 2015 available in combination with a demonstration disc for a suggested retail price of $ 30, and converted with VAT about 32 euros. Additional packages with discs will cost $ 15, or just over 15 euros likely. The packages have themes like nature, adventure and science.
