Google has filed two patents that describe technology to improve the traditional book. One idea is to project images on the pages of the book, using specially built devices.

The deliberate patent applications have been filed with the US Patent Office USPTO and were first discovered by Fast Company. In one of the Google patent applications describes a technology to add images through a kind of augmented reality on a book. This can be by means of a projector which has to be built in the book and pressure sensors that detect when the reader turn a page. Because there is a mini projector is used, it is not necessary to wear special glasses to see the images.

When the user turns a page creates a trigger and can images are shown on the book itself, and therewith support the story. A built-in speaker can be heard accompanying sounds. The same thing can, moreover, with a technology that is described in the second patent application. The Commission adopts a secondary device such as a smartphone or tablet, used to display the book story picture and sound. Again is detected when the reader turns a page and then the corresponding video and audio material is played on the smartphone or tablet.

As usual with patent applications is not clear whether the patented technology will actually find their way into products. Google is experimenting more with new product forms, making it far from certain that such a book will be produced. It is also possible that Google uses ideas for tech demonstrations.
