Google begins rollout Maps version with Material Design




Google begins this week with the rollout of a new version of the Maps app. The update introduces include Google’s new design directive Material Design. For Dutch and Belgians content much change to the app.

The biggest change in the new Maps app is the addition of Material Design: The new design language that Google now uses for its apps and sites, and which also features in Android 5.0. The design is aimed to implement a consistent interface for all managed by Google interfaces, with large areas and clear spot colors.

Content will change with the introduction of the new Maps app little – at least, for Dutch and Belgians. In the US, users can now book from the app to restaurants, via the website OpenTable. In certain other countries Maps Show at the itineraries how much a taxi ride would cost Uber app. This functionality, however, does not work in the Netherlands.
