Find a Question:
Google Chrome crashes when importing some urls
Google Chrome appears to be a bug that causes the browser to crash when entering certain URLs. That happens when a null character is in the url. It goes wrong when the user does a mouse-over on such a URL.
The bug in Chrome was discovered by Andris Atteka that the discovery did on his blog explained. Atteka discovered that entering a URL containing a so-called null character causes crashes the browser tab. In some cases even crash the entire browser, as reports VentureBeat. The bug has been reported to Google, and that appears to be involved in solving it. The problem seems to occur at the desktop versions of Chrome, but some users of the Android browser also report crashes.
As an example Atteka gave the url http://biome3d.com/%%30%30. It is striking that even a mouse-over on the conscious link causes the browser tab does not work anymore. It must however be going to a clickable link, making the url in this article, the browser tab of Chrome users so should leave intact.
A technical explanation of the bug is found in old code that does a service in the Chrome browser, as is explained on the Chromium code-Google website. The error probably does not cause safety problems.Viewing:-193
