Find a Question:
Google comes with Web-based chat app Hangouts
Google has created a web version of its chat application Hangouts. The variant works full screen in the browser and requires a login with a Google Account. It is the first time that Hangouts is usable on its own site.
Until now, Hangouts usable within Google+ and Gmail, but never as an independent chat service. The site shows chats and contacts with a “inspirational figure” in the background, reports Google employee Jordanna Chord.
Hangouts had already been using the release as a separate app and functioned as though Chrome plugin. Although the site is running on the domain hangouts.google.com, all calls are made via the already existing talkgadget.google.com. This is true for both video calls and chats. The conversations themselves have also gotten a new layout and are still in a small window at the bottom right image.Viewing:-136
