Find a Question:
Google has come up with projects to improve human-machine interaction
Google has shown Friday two projects should improve the human-machine interaction. These include a tiny chip for recognizing hand gestures. Also, Google comes up with a project for smart clothing.
On the chip worked Googles division for experimental products, called Advanced Technology and Projects department, the past ten months. During the I / O conference Friday, the division showed the first results. It was a working prototype that Project Soli was baptized. The device appeared to recognize all gestures for changing settings.
Google developed the chip, because the screens of devices are becoming smaller. This complicates according to the company operating the computing devices. The technology giant also sees a solution in recognizing hand gestures. Project Soli could help. The chip is small enough to fit in a small device such as a smart watch, stop.
Project Soli utilizes radar technology for recognizing the hand gestures. The chip operates with microwaves at a frequency of 60GHz, and having a wavelength of five millimeters. Soli project works up to a distance of five meters. Before that the device does not read the entire radar signal, but only the differences between the signals.
Google expects to end this year with more Soli. With an API developers should be able to “translate” hand gestures for their applications. These gestures will the chip initially difficult to register, but thanks to machine learning which registrations should be gradually better.
Google released except Soli also see another form of human-machine interaction: Project Jacquard. It wants to weave the technology giant electronics in clothing. In itself it is not a new concept; Students arrived for example last year with a smart sweater. However, Google says Jacquard want to reform the entire garment industry.
For now, the Advanced Technology and Projects department for Project Jacquard built a separate chip that can record and interpret the signals from the electronics in cotton and silk. In fact, the clothing acts therefore as a touchscreen. For example, include a particular swipe phones are operated. Google wants with clothing manufacturer Levi’s going to put the technology to market.Viewing:-156
