Google is actively filter out pornography search results

Google’s images and videos of child pornography from its search results more active ward, after pressure from the British government. The results of more than 100,000 terms are filtered, is also a warning to some of those terms.

google The search giant puts software to recognize child pornography images and Google employees will assess whether it is indeed child pornography. That happens because software difficult to distinguish between an innocent picture of a child in a bath and actual child pornography, writes CEO Eric Schmidt of Google in a letter to the Daily Mail. Microsoft also contributes to blocking the forbidden information.

Found images and videos are excluded from more than 100,000 search results, where the business software used elsewhere published versions of the same photos and videos also repel. In his letter Schmidt Microsoft thanks for sharing his PhotoDNA technology, which copies of photographs can be recognized on the basis of a fingerprint. In addition, Google itself developed similar software for video, named VideoID. By using software that child can be effectively repelled.

At 13,000 search terms directly related to child pornography, also comes a warning that the user is prohibited content to the search, specifying where professional help can be found. The changes will first be introduced in English-speaking countries, but then become available in 158 languages, Google promises.

The search giant has long blocked individual links to forbidden information, but the active filtering of search results has long been considered undesirable by the company, as it offers the neutrality of the search engine in question would be. Now the British Prime Minister David Cameorn with legislation threatened, Google takes action anyway.

In a reaction against the Daily Mail says Cameron that the legislation will still come as the adjustments of Google and Microsoft do not work well enough. He himself would prefer it on some terms no search results come up, as is abundantly clear that the user searches for child pornography. “This is not a restriction of freedom of expression, but responsibility,” said the Prime Minister.
