Google lets developers create promotional codes for Play Store

Google gives app developers the ability to create promotional codes, so they can put them available free paid apps and in-app purchases to users. The codes can be managed in the developer console.

The documentation of Google shows that developers per app than five hundred codes can create per quarter for an app or in-app product. Promotional codes can be used, for example, win promotions, or to apps and in-app purchases available to reviewers. The addition of promotional codes was noted by Android Police. Apple offers iOS developers for years similar capabilities.

App developers can give an expiration date on the code itself in the developer console, but promotional codes are valid for up to one year. If the unique codes are not used expire.
