Google makes 79 patents to open source
Google has announced on its open source blog, the OPN (79 more patents Open godfather Non-Assertion Pledge ) to contribute. These patents are from IBM and CA Technologies, who were among the first to be open source patent have made commitments in 2005. The patents involve software that are especially useful for the operation of data centers, including monitoring and database management.
With OPN especially innovation should be promoted. Since patents can be used as defensive, faster, better solutions are found. The goal of the patent system, innovation is whether this is derived from internal or external patents, does not matter on the way to the goal.
