Google Maps allows users to share directions from Android app




Google introduces in coming Maps version for Android a new feature that makes it possible to share directions with others through the app. It may vary by device if the new Android app is available.

If users have a route planned, they get into version 9.3 of Google Maps the ability to share the directions with others. There is a separate option created for. Sharing driving directions can through various apps, including Facebook and WhatsApp. However, it is also possible to send instructions via text messages, emails or HTML file via bluetooth to other devices.

Only textual descriptions are forwarded. Google first state the time and the distance that the user must overcome. Thereafter, as described in steps which route to take to the user then. Finally a link is generated when a user can click to be redirected to the Google Maps service. The link works in web browsers on Android devices.

The new feature can be useful for example to share directions with people who do not have the Google Maps app or temporarily do not have Internet access. Also, anyone can be a route for another preparation. That person only needs to read the instructions or click the link to see the directions.
