Google Maps for Android allows users to store maps on memory card

Google Maps for Android has received an update that makes it possible to store offline maps on a memory card. Previously it was only possible to store the maps on internal memory. The update also adds a WiFi-only mode.

Google Maps offline on a memory card The WiFi-only mode makes Google Maps only connect to the servers when a WiFi connection is active. Navigation is available on the parts of the map that are stored on your smartphone or if you are connected to a WiFi network. When using mobile networks the app will make no attempt to update maps.

When storing maps for offline use check the Maps app now or users want to keep the card to the internal memory, or that they want to address the space of the SD memory card, if present.

Furthermore, Google has integrated more taxi services in the app. Besides Uber rides Maps shows in three cities in Indonesia now on the fare with GO-JEK and later added ten cities. Furthermore, Google is working in Asia with Grab and in several cities in Ireland, Poland, Italy, Austria, Russia and Israel are the services of Gett, Hailo and mytaxi added. Taxi services from both the Android and iOS app visible when requesting a route.
