Google offers subscriptions for ad free viewing of sites




Google has announced Contributer: a service that allows online users to pay to subscribe to websites so they get an ad-free playback. Users can pay in beta 1,2 or 3 dollars per month.

When the beta of Contributor do ten publications, amongst which Imgur, Wikihow, The Onion, Science Daily, Urban Dictionary and Mashable. According to Google is a ‘part’ of the contribution of 1,2 or 3 dollars a month to the makers of the sites, but it is not clear what percentage. Instead of ads online that pay thanks to a spot of advertising.

Joining the test is currently based on Google invitation and stressed that it is an experiment, making the monthly payments may still change, should it ever come to an actual service. Contributor plays with Google in the growing use of AdBlocker, the diminishing returns of ads for sites and the rise of crowdfunding with micropayments.
