Google has an option presented to “satisfy mail ‘mail from other email providers, such as Microsoft’s Outlook.com. Incoming mail Google then automatically sorts the inboxes such Updates and Social, as is done with Gmail.

Users gain by linking the email to a Gmail account, inter alia, the spam filter of Gmail, but continue to mail to and from the Outlook.com address, says Google. The function can mails from other mail providers also appear as cards in Google Now, the digital assistant of the search giant.

To activate the feature, users must in the Gmail app, which already supports more accounts from other email providers, linking the account to Gmail. Presumably Google servers communicate than with servers from other mail provider to intercept mail and filtered to pass. The removal of the link is possible is clear from the support page of that function.

As yet, the function is only possible with Hotmail / Outlook.com and Yahoo! Mail. Google says later add other email providers. When that happens, and what it will be is unknown. For a few years supports the Gmail app to receive mail from other email providers.
