Google simulates board system Android Car on desktop for app developers




Google has for developers of Android apps Android Auto Car Head Unit Desktop introduced. That is desktop software that the board system of a car mimics Android, so developers for their tests do not always have to sit in a car.

The Android desktop Car Head Unit, or DHU, is immediately available for download, let Google know. Developers can turn on the DHU, after which behaves Android phone connected via USB if it is connected to an Android Auto. The display of the simulated Android Auto is displayed on the monitor. A smartphone with Android 5.0 Lollipop or newer is required for this.

Android Car is currently available in several countries, including Germany, France and the UK, but not in the Benelux. A date on which vehicles will be available with Android Auto feature in the Benelux, is also not yet known.
