Google wants permission to expand considerably datacenter in Groningen

Google has submitted an application to double the size of the data center into the Groningen municipality of Eemsmond. At present, still built on three data hotels to the N33 in Eemshaven on the 45 hectares that Google already purchased for the centers.

The applications were not made by Google itself but by its subsidiary Greenbox Computing. A spokesman for the group has against the Dagblad van het Noorden stated that the application does not necessarily mean that is actually invested in new centers. It is part of a long-term planning and there is no ‘final decision’.

The first phase of the plan for the data hotel to be completed in 2017, where it is expected that a part of the center this year is put into operation. There is 600 million euros in the first phase and should provide this employment for 150 to 170 people.

Eemshaven is beneficial for data processors because it is near the CN IX. There is plenty of electricity by the presence of power plants of Electrabel, Nuon and RWE.

Not only Google is busy with data centers. Microsoft also is working on building a third data center in Central Lake in North Holland writes Noordhollands Dagblad. This data center must pass the A7, information collected could see in the NHD. End of 2015. Microsoft took its first data center in use Agriport. This center cost two billion and is intended for services in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
